bought 2 pork chops from Grayslake farmers market...asked for portion for 2...sold me 2 chops that are big enough for 3 people a piece... Very difficult to cook and way too much to eat... a sincere disappointment...Meat could be good but I'll never know...

I bought chicken breast, ground beef and a couple pre-made hamburger patties at the Rockford IL farmers market. I am the pickiest eater in my household and I was so surprised at the quality, taste and moistness of the meat. It will take a couple more attempts to perfect my cook times, but the results were outstanding. I cannot wait for next week's market.

Nick always has a great variety, he is very helpful explaining to you how to cook your meat, and I feel good knowing that Nick's animals are pasture raised.

Dont be fooled, first of all his animals were all mistreated and fed garbage food that was going to be thrown out. He has been approached by PETA and the local authorities for his mistreatment of animals. His food is left in the sun to thaw and then put back in the freezer after the market. Just take a whiff of the trailer when he opens it. I would not feed his meats to anyone, anything i cared about. BEWARE!!!

Farmer Nick doesn't have a farm and the eggs, that you are paying $5.00 a dozen for, are from Walmart. The meat comes from Jones Packing. The farm, he did have, was condemned and foreclosed 6 months ago. When he left, he left dead all over the property. The "free range" chickens were free ranging in his bedroom where 6 inches of feces and dead chickens now lay. He had 3 donkeys that all were found dead on his property after he left. He abandoned his dog on the property who is also laying there dead right now. These farmers markets need to do a better job screening their vendors.

Well since I am not a blogger here, I am posting anonymously, but this posting is aimed at the previous Anonymous postings. It is easy to trash someone when you don't sign a name. Maybe you should sign a name, or perhaps if you sign your name you are afraid you'll get sued for defamation of character. If your statements are true, then their is no need to hide your name. Second, and more disturbing, you just admitted to trespassing, and breaking and entry. Are you some kind of stalker? Why are you breaking into this guy's home and going into his bedroom. Totally creepy. -AJ

I bought several items from Deerfield farmers market, very poor quality in color and taste!!!

Took several weeks for a reply had to get a reply with assistance from deerfields farmers market..... With 2 attempts......they contacted him twice... FINALLY after a month I recieved an email from him!!!

No "guarantees or refund" per mr nick the " farmer" any company would be happy to refund IF they stood behind the quality and "pasture" raised food!!!!
Glad I was informed of this site!!! Definitely forwarding it to Deerfield farmers market!!!!

The anonymous posts are from Kim Doran. She is a convicted felon who stole $45,000 from a senior citizen. Farmer Nick did her a favor and boarded her horses for a discounted rate because she told him she needed help because she had "legal problems". Turns out her legal problems was that she stole an old man's life savings which she used on vacations and parties and her horses. Then she ran up a $5,000 bill on farmer nick and skipped out on it.

In regards to the refund policy - NO I do not give refunds when you buy and eat $150 in porterhouses, t bones, and filets. It would be one thing if this person ate one steak and brought it back, it's another when they buy $150 - eat all the steaks then say they want a full refund.

And the Deerfield farmers market back me up too.

It is public record- the farm in Wisconsin was foreclosed on and he was removed from the property by the sheriff in January. Here is the link:

They said he took the animals to another farm which is fine but there is truth in part of what was said.

This article also concerned me:

Make an appointment with Farmer Nick to view the farm and animal conditions. Good verification the farm really exists and so do the animals being raised by him...as noted above the farm has been foreclosed.

Interesting read:

The truth isn't defamation.

Too bad ANONYMOUS won't post her real name

Don't know who this Nick guy is, other than he posted rude remarks on one of many testimonys I helped produce that are from people that have survived extreme sexual abuse. (Stacey Lannert's) His remarks were anger driven and tasteless concerning the subject of child molestaion. We will pray for this man....https://www.facebook.com/FreedomDocu/?ref=bookmarks

This guy holds himself out as small family farm, but he doesn't even own a farm. None of his family members were even farmers. All he does is buy meat from the butcher and resells it with his label. Ask for a tour of his farm, and he will always come up with an excuse, why you can't stop by.
